The purpose of sealing an object is to guarantee the identity and integrity of the power meter. However, the seals are easy to reach. Once the seals were broken, it is simple to tamper the energy meter. In order to achieve the more secure of power meter, a new class of electronic seals based on radio frequency identification device (RFID) technology has been developed. Due to the RFID seal is more cost-effective than the smart power meter and achieving the purpose of tamperproof at the same time. It is applied to today''s environment.
In this paper, we design and implement an innovative, secure, efficient, flexible, RFID eSeals application for power meter. There are four phases the Seal Initialization, the Meter & Seal Installing, the Meter reading & Auditing and the Meter Removing proposed in our design. It can reduce the cost of human resource, the incidence of human error. Moreover, it can guarantee the integrity of power meter and enhance the efficiency. Due to their effectiveness, reliability and security, electronic Seals (e-seal) can quickly replacing the traditional mechanical seals in the near term.
