Hydrostatic gas bearings plays an essential role in numerous measurement systems analysis. Contributed by its nature of low coefficient of friction and high durability, it is highly utilized by measurement systems for the most accuracy and demanding analysis. A hydrostatic gas bearing rely on an external pump, to force pressurization air between the surfaces of the bearing via a restrictive orifice to form a cohesive film of lubrication between the surfaces. Majority of the hydrostatic gas bearings today are not capable of pressure leak compensation when the bearing is under heavy load, the lost of viscosity and the thickness of the lubrication contributes to most errors in repetitive testing. This study aims to study the possibility of a compensative externally pressurized hydrostatic gas bearing that would minimize margin of error due to this phenomenon.
