The pursposes of this study were to investigate the current condition and relevance of teaching beliefs and the innovative instruction of hometown issues implemented by teachers in the elemetary schools of Yunlin County and how they were different with environment variables. In the end, the important factors affecting the innovative instruction of social studies were analyzed. According to the results, the researcher presented the conclusions and specific suggestions.
The researcher collected and analyzed the data through the questionnaire titled ‟The Teachers’ Teaching Beliefs and Innovative Instruction of Hometown Issues in Elementary Schools of Yunlin County”. The research used stratified purposive sampling to choose 600 elementary teachers in Yunlin County as samples, and the data was analyzed by SPSS Statistics 12.0 . The data collected from the surveys were treated and analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and multiple stepwise regression. Based on the results of data analysis, The results of this study are as follows:
First, the status of teaching beliefs of the Yunlin County elementary school teachers presents the student-centered approach, the innovative instruction of hometown issues belonging to the upper level of the degree.
Second, the elementary school teachers’ teaching beliefs in Yunlin County were different because of age, position, years of teaching, and school size, but there was no difference between their gender, educational background, and service areas.
Third, the elementary school teachers’ teaching in the innovative instruction of hometown issues in Yunlin County were different because of age, position, school size, but there was no difference between gender, educational background, teaching experience, background factors and different service areas.
Fourth, the elementary school teachers’ teaching beliefs and the degree of the innovative instruction of hometown issues in Yunlin County were positively correlated, Teaching beliefs reflected on the innovative instruction of hometown issues much.
Fifth, the elementary school teachers’ teaching beliefs could predict 33.3% of the degree of innovative instruction of hometown issues.
