Description
Summary:碩士 === 明道大學 === 國學研究所 === 99 === Abstracts In year 1949, Kuomintag government retreated from China to Taiwan. Meanwhile, the elites of every profession also arrived Taiwan. They brought new stream of ideas and directions, especially in the culture and art aspects. This had a profound impact and inspired a lot of people. Mr. Peng, Chuen-Shih was the master of both Parnassus and Calligraphy. They gave him the honor of “The best belesprit of Chiang Si province.” His accomplishment on poem, calligraphy and painting made him the master. His calligraphy was the most valued in that time. People thought his works should be treated as important as the old masters in the past and some even claimed that his works exceeded the old masters. In the long history of Chinese calligraphy, Mr. Peng went a different direction and developed his own style in art. This made him to be recorded in the history of Chinese calligraphy. Mr. Peng, chuen-Shih has been known throughout Mainland China and was highly regarded in Taiwan as well. Mr. Peng’s poetry, calligraphy and painting had no equal in contemporary. He read a lot as well as specialized in poetry and ancient famous works. His works combined with poetry, calligraphy and painting and showed a high level of literary accomplishment. Though the contemporaries admired him and the upper-class people hungered for his works, Mr. Peng did not just write for them but only for his own will. That’s why Mr. Peng’s works were very rare and valuable. Mr. Peng, Chuen-Shih has passed away for more than 30 years. Mr. Peng cherished his own works so much that he was unwilling to write a lot. Furthermore, he was suffered with illness in his old age and did not make his works published in his life time. We could only find a few picture books and essays talking about him after he died. That’s why the published books about him are very hard to find and there is even no research topics on him. The calligraphy profession has almost forgotten about him due to very few works, drafts and information left now. Most of his works were small sizes and in form of letters. Although he did plenty of works during the time, as time goes by, not many of his works left now. It’s indeed a great sorrow to Calligraphy world that the contemporaries did not deeply realize Mr. Peng’s works. They always misunderstood his works with gorgeous words and abstract ideas. Someone ignorant said that Mr. Peng wrote in a punctilious style. All these definitions to Mr. Peng’s works were big mistakes. I have acquired some of Mr. Peng’s diary, drafts, and garland. By analysis, generalization and comparison on Mr. Peng’s works, I was able to find misunderstanding of current people have about his works. People thought Mr. Peng’s works were originated from Wong Shi Jy. But in fact, Mr. Peng was able to fuse styles of “Bei”, which is calligraphy carving on stones, and “Tei”, which is hand writing calligraphy. He did study on works from Tang, Song , Ming, the early Ching Dynasties and Republic of China and incorporated into his works. This has not been found and discussed about Mr. Peng’s works. Furthermore, he also took ideas from the epitaph of Chin, Han, and Northern Wei Dynasties. These are the reasons that you can see strength and elegance in his works, and made Mr. Peng’s name in the history.
