RESEARCH ABOUT POLITICAL SOCIALIZATION AND PARTY IDENTIFICATION OF FEMALE MAINLAND CHINESE SPOUSES IN KINMEN COUNTY

Party identification plays a crucial role in terms of the overall personal values and beliefs that at the same time represent a critical part in long-term stability; the party identification of female spouses that migrated from mainland China to Taiwan is affected by her own President and her husband’s. However, the study will also consider the various personal backgrounds and other mechanisms of political socialization. Therefore, this paper actually studies the female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County that were specifically targeted for this purpose/study using a comprehensive questionnaire/survey aimed at examining the personal backgrounds of political parties and thus political socialization and identity-related differences.
The preliminary study came to the following conclusions: 1. When it comes to party identification, the majority of female mainland Chinese spouses are supporters for the pan-blue party or independent voters while in contrast, only 4.53% of supporters are accounted for the pan-green party. 2. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County related to husbands from the ethnicity group of Hakka tend to support the pan-blue party. 3. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County whose husbands are Taiwanese are more likely to be independent voters. 4. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County considering themselves to be "Chinese People" tend to support the pan-blue party. 5. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County stating the economic outlook for individuals is improving, tend to support the pan-blue party; stating the economic outlook for individuals is worsening, tend to be independent voters. 6. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County stating the overall economic outlook is improving, tend to support the pan-blue party; stating the overall economic outlook is worsening, tend to be independent voters. 7. Female mainland Chinese spouses in Kinmen County recalling the overall economic outlook is improving tend to be independent voters; recalling the overall economic outlook is worsening tend to support the pan-blue party.
Preliminary studies of this research provide a basis that will enable future academics and governmental agencies to look into this particular issues with a broader scope.
