Summary: | 碩士 === 康寧大學 === 休閒管理研究所 === 99 === This purpose of this study is to explore the status of leisure among the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County, the constraints or impediments they face during engaging in leisure activities, their participation in leisure activities, and the leisure benefits they may obtain after the activities and the differences and relevance between them.
Among the subjects who were mainly the elementary school students in Chiayi County,a questionnaire survey was conducted. Total 562 questionnaires were issued. After excluding 10 invalid questionnaires, there were totally 552 questionnaires returned. The rate of return was 98.2%. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, the Pearson Coefficient.The questionnaires were then examined and analyzed with the hypotheses of this research.
The results of indicated, in general, the following:
1.When participating in leisure activities, among others, the biggest constraint or impediment the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County faced was on the aspect of “structural”, followed by “personal internal constraint” dimension, and the lowest was on the aspect of “interpersonal constraint”. There were significant differences in the leisure constraint among the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students due to different background variables such as grade, parents’ attitude and family patterns.
2.When choosing leisure activities, the highest ratio of the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County preferred “sport type” activities, followed by “hobby type” and “mass media type”. There were significant differences in the leisure activity participations among the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students with different background variables such as grade, gender and parents’ attitude.
3.The greatest benefit the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County obtained after participating in leisure activities was “balanced life experiences”, followed by “enriched life” and “raised life quality”. There were significant differences in the leisure benefits among fifth and sixth grade elementary school students with different background variable such as parents’ attitude.
4.The leisure constraints or impediments had affected the participations of the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County in leisure activities, and they were negatively correlated. This indicated that the more leisure constraints they faced, the lower degree of participation they would be.
5.The participations of the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students in Chiayi County in leisure activities, regardless of the type of the activities, were positively correlated with leisure benefits. This result symbolized that students could obtain more benefits from leisure activities through participation.
According to the results of this research, this study suggests the following:
1) School should integrate accurate leisure concepts and leisure planning abilities into every learning field,school can arrange beneficial leisure activities.
2)The government, the schools and parents should encourage students to participate in leisure activities, and provide appropriate leisure activity information and safe leisure
activity sites and facilities for the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students.
3)We hope relevant government agencies develop leisure resources in multiple ways, to help the fifth and sixth grade elementary school students experience the physical and mental pleasure brought by leisure activities, develop correct leisure concept, and ultimately, learn to choose wholesome leisure activities.
