The Study of Firms Performance of IC Design Industry in Taiwan

碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 經營管理研究所 === 99 === The main purpose of this study is to measure the operation performance of 39 domestic IC design companies in Taiwan for the years from 2003 to 2007. The study firstly apply CCR model to examine the total technical efficiency of those IC design companies, then we apply BCC model to analyses each company’s pure technical efficiency and their scope efficiency. Then we apply the differential variable analysis to view of those inefficiency company to find our the value of those input variables should be revised. Finally, we use the Malmquist productive indices to compare the difference of performance of cross years during the period of 2003 to 2007. The results show that the whole industry is in the state of inefficiency during the period of 2003 to 2007, and have the space of 34% to improve, and the primary causes of inefficiency comes from both pure technical inefficiency and scope inefficiency, and the pure technical inefficiency is more important than scope inefficiency even if the efficiency has very slow growth of this industry. In the cross time analysis part, the productive forces of this industry grows approximately 3.2% in the research period of five year. What needs to pay attention is the production technology of IC design industry decline 1.7% during the five year period. Analyzing the individual company, the results shows that the NOVATEK company and the V-TAC Techology company have the best performances in the period of five years.
