In the extreme competitive business environment today, to increase profit and minimize cost, companies must have an efficient procurement management system. In backlight module industry high percentage of production cost goes to purchasing assembly parts. Therefore it becomes necessary to examine and negotiate every penny on the purchasing price for these components. Due to rapid information change in the backlight module industry, procurement must constantly keep abreast of the reasonable market price on the raw material. Establishment of an effective procurement system becomes a must. By parameters setting and systematic verification, such system would allow purchaser to enhance thorough pricing check and ultimately provide effective cost control. The first step to enhance the procurement module of the existing ERP system is categorizing components into OEM, ODM or SPM. Specific purchasing verification rule, verification condition and maintenance guidelines are then defined for each category. While using the system for a purchase, the system verifies purchasing price. When pricing abnormality is detected, it requires the justification of purchaser. This assist pricing justification, and allow management to efficiently review correct purchasing price, manage system and pricing verification and trace abnormality. This research shows that upon the implementation of the procurement system, the purchaser can learn whether the purchase price is complied with the corporate policy before submitted for approval. The managers can review all purchasing with price verification by the system. It provides daily purchasing reports and periodic pricing abnormality tracing for management to review. It not only increases work efficiency for purchasing staff, but also enhance management and accuracy on purchasing price.
