For the adolescent users, they are currently on the important stage of personality development. Thus, to study the relationships between Internet use behavior and personality for adolescent users is becoming an interesting topic for researchers. The work described in this thesis was aimed at exploring the relationships between personality and Internet use behavior for adolescent users. We adopted Big-Five Personality Traits and Internet use behavior questionnaire as measurements for this study. The sample space for this study includes the students of a junior high school in middle Taiwan. These students were divided into two groups. One is for studying the Internet usage behavior based on personality, and on the contrary the other one is for exploring the personality based on their Internet use behavior. Firstly, we explored the students’ Internet use behavior for the students with different personalities and established the relationships between personality and Internet use behavior. Thereafter, based on the relationships obtained, we measured the personality for the students with different Internet use behavior to prove the relationships. The results of this study include: (1) The students’ needs for their daily life directly causes them to choose Internet services. The personality is not the dominant factor for students to select Internet services. (2) For the students, Internet is becoming a required tool for their daily life; their personality does not directly dominate Internet use behavior. (3) Though Internet is becoming a tool for their daily life, the subtle and implicit motivation and purpose of using various Internet services for the students with different personality are quite different. For the future study, the sample space can be extended to broader geographical region or different age students. Besides, more subtle factors can be considered in measuring the Internet use behavior.
