碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 成人教育與人力發展學系碩士班 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in attitudes towards the elders between aboriginal and Han elementary school students in Hualien County. A questionnaire including “Background” and “Scale of Attitudes towards the elders” was developed for this study. 593 aboriginal and Han students from 5th and 6th grades of elementary schools in Hualien County were sampled. The statistical methods such as t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the collected data. The results of this research are as follows: (1) The elementary school students in Hualien County have positive attitudes towards the elders. (2) Genders and experiences of living with the elders are not related to the attitudes towards the elders. (3) The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren and their participation in intergenerational activities influence the attitudes towards the elders. (4) There is no significant difference in attitudes towards the elders between aboriginal and Han elementary school students. Based on the results mentioned above, some suggestions are proposed to educational institutes, schools and families to improve the attitudes of children towards the elders.
