We also intend to investigate whether or not if personality will turn out different results of “Weight-control Behaviors”. We started and analyzed this project by using the national symbolic samples from the “Panel Study of Family Dynamics” data-base studied by the Academia Sinica. Overall, we have gathered 1,266 valid samples. There are three groups of sample: a) overweight b) minor obesity and c) major obesity. The results showed these three groups undertook the weight loss behaviors by different ratios: a) 27.1% b) 38.4%) and c) 44.1%. Secondly, the ratios of maintaining bodyweight of these three groups are a) 34.5% b) 23.5 and c) 23.0%. In general, these results showed that the following people will have higher possibility to undertake weight-control behaviors. 1) People with high income, 2) people with high BMI, 3) people assume obesity will result cancer or chronic disease, 4) people consider obesity will have negative impact toward to marriage, interpersonal relation, career (or promotion), personal image, and individual health. However, statistics showed no significant differences among gender, age(male), education background, and marriage status, which are not related with people's weight-control behaviors. The result of this research will be supportive to provide as the reference to work out a policy for relative institute. Keywords: overweight, obesity, BMI – Body Mass Index, weight loss behaviors, weight-control behaviors. Dr. Shu-fang Kao 高旭繁 100 學位論文 ; thesis 132 zh-TW
