Summary:碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 99 === This study intends to understand young offenders in the counseling process through analyzing oral and artistic works. This narrative approach can analyze works and conduct art therapy with a spirit of inter-subjectivity rather than clinical experiment. This approach can complement previous quantitative research which lacks qualitative evidence of young offenders’ experiences. Participants of this research were corrects of middle schools. They were involved in the art therapy program once a week, and the length of the program was eighteen sessions. The results showed: 1. Cases in the art therapy went through the following stages” "testing period", "self-expression and reconstruction period," and "organizing life experience period." 2. Cases expressed that "exploration of resilience" can help them find meanings in difficult situations, which made them feel like there was still hope in the future. 3. The trigger of the treatment process includes: (1) changes in the therapeutic relationship; (2) wound healing at the event and explore of resilience; (3) counselors do not judge or evaluate art works; (4) making good use of art media. 4. Art therapy can help cases to transform emotions in terms of: (1) free painting alleviates anxiety of cases; liquid material such as acrylic paint helps cases to experience the rhythm of color and therefore releases their tension; (2) after cases experience heard, companionship, and empathy, counselors can ask questions regarding “change the present”; cases transform their emotional experiences and fell self-empowered by redoing the work; 5. From the counseling process and the self-narrative works, cases have the needs for security, love and belonging, self-esteem, and spiritual; if a psychologist provides acceptance, caring, respect and empathy in the treatment process, cases may experience in-depth self-exploration and organize their life experience. Finally, the researchers organize the counseling process of self-reflection and changes, and make recommendations based on the findings.
