In a highly automated production environment, any unexpected machine breakdown or maintenance shutdown inevitably affects the system. In order to reduce productivity loss caused by breakdown or routine maintenance. This study developed several heuristic methods that generate different repair sequence selection rules to resolve the machine breakdown and maintenance shutdown issue. The results showed that two of the methods developed by the research perform well on the mean processing time, constrained machine utilization, and average repair time. In addition, the constrained machine has better performance in utilization and mean processing time with the method that evenly distribute the routine maintenances/repairs on the schedule in advance.
