Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 社會學系碩士班 === 99 === ABSTRACT The study attempts to investigating the "crisis in masculinity" as the theoretical basis, hair as a symbol to show why the male feeling of anxiety and fear, and tried to find out what was the causes and the processes when they face the hair dying. According to the bold male’s field data in Taiwan, the medical discourses and media texts transform the interpretation of the symbol of baldness into a stigma an "as a disease". Thereby those data affect the perception and the cognitive system about the bald image in society which ultimately induce the "crisis in masculinity" for bald male. The study observed and processed analysis to the subjective experiences from bald male, and tried to reflect the agency for interviewee. The bald male face the symbol transformation cause by medical discourses and media texts, not only by passively accepting the existing pattern of discourses, but having the ability to actively critique and reflect the legitimacy and rationality to the symbol. The study tried to futher argue the constructionism viewpoint which may fell into the logic, which indefinitely for symbolic system and thus ignored the individual agency when discuss the masculinities. Review the study found in bald male’s experience toward the biological body and social body at the same time, the biological body focus on clinical medicine while the social body discuss the symbol. The result showed that bald male’s body were extremely diverse and fluid. The conclusion tried to get a theoretical dialogue and replenish with constructionism. key words: constructionism、masculinities、Androgenetic Alopecia、medical discourse、media text.
