The investigation of political participation of members of medical association—a case study of practitioners in Yilan County

碩士 === 佛光大學 === 公共事務學系 === 99 === The provision of sufficient medical resources becomes an indispensable policy in modern democratic society. Therefore, the promotion of public medical policies by the government and the attitudes as well as responses to these policies from the medical associations have turned into an issue which deserves further discussion. This study aims to investigate the participation as well as alienation of the members of the medical association in Yilan County, which is conducted by a questionnaire survey of the aforementioned issues. Following this vein, the four main inquires are as follows: 1. exploring the way and degree of involvement of the members of the association in political participation 2. analyzing the correlation between the attitude towards public medical policies and the alienation to political affairs of these members 3. analyzing the correlation between the actual political participation of the members and individual variables in this study respectively. 4. discussing the result of the study and provide suggestions for the government. The target subjects of the study are the members of the medical association in Yilian County. Five hundred questionnaires were issued, with 464 effective questionnaires returned and an effective questionnaire returns-ratio of 92.8%. The 464 effective questionnaires stand for 79% of the medical practitioners in Yiian County, which is statistically significant. The questionnaire consists of three parts. The first part investigates independent variables of the respondents according to their age, sex, education, school of graduation, original domicile, incumbent duty, practice divisions, birthplace, family economic status, and their political identity. The second part of the questionnaire investigates the degree of involvement of their political participation. There are 16 questions in this part and the content of the questions are delineated in chapter 5. The third part of the questionnaire is to investigate the alienation to politics of the respondents with an eye to main issues on public medical policies. Literature review, questionnaire, and comparison analysis are adopted in this study. One-way ANOVA Model is conducted to analyze means between different sample groups as well as the factors that affect the involvement in politics of members in the medical association in Yilan. The results of this study may shed light to relative issues and provide suggestions for further studies in the future.
