Summary: | 碩士 === 佛光大學 === 藝術學研究所 === 99 === When talking about Taiwanese Culture and Arts, people would immediately think of the “Cloud Gate Dance Theatre,” as well as its soul character, Mr. Hwai-min Lin. Since the 70s, “Cloud Gate Dance Theatre” has continued to affect and influence the local culture and the dancing environment in Taiwan. It has powerfully influenced the development of Taiwanese culture. In addition to being affirmed and highly praised as the representative of Taiwanese Culture, “Cloud Gate Dance Theatre” has become the essential element of Taiwanese society. No other group could replace or go beyond its remarkable achievements.
“Cloud Gate Dance Theatre” not only attracts the attention from audiences but also researchers. In the field of dancing research and theory, there have been considerable accumulations on both quality and quantity of researching “Cloud Gate Dance Theatre.” However, it is short of discussions on the “Cloud Gate Phenomenon.” This thesis then aims to investigate the causes of the “Cloud Gate Phenomenon” and the possible factors.
The literary supplement of China Times, “Ren-Jian Fu Kan”, influenced the cultural development in Taiwan during the 70s and is considered closely related to the generation of “Cloud Gate Phenomenon.” Reportage is another element of forming the phenomenon. This thesis additionally discusses the pros and cons which the phenomenon has brought to the society and the culture in Taiwan.
Via the investigation, it is expected to induce the deeper examinations of “Cloud Gate” and to remind the society of paying more attention on the difficulties which the dancing environment has been encountered in Taiwan.
