Description
Summary:碩士 === 佛光大學 === 經濟學系 === 99 === The main object of this research is the Taiwan WiMAX telecommunication industry. The competitive and cooperative (complementary) relationship among Taiwan WiMAX telecommunication companies is analyzed by the Theory of Game Co-opetition. This research is aimed at probing into the strengths and weaknesses of Taiwan WiMAX Industry in north and south regions and their Co-opetition strategies. A reference is provided for the future development of the communication industry by using the current situation and the simulated overall co-opetition pattern of the companies to reach the Nash equilibrium of the game. In the duopoly market structure of domestic WiMAX telecommunication industry, companies are facing the local conditions of north and south regions and the needs of users’ mobility, comprehensive and all-area coverage. Under the law, set-up costs and operation profits, they may have the tacit agreement of joint monopoly by allowing customers to internet roaming with non-existent agreements. This research uses the Theory of Game Co-opetition to analyze the current operation status of Taiwan WiMAX telecommunication. The result shows that when one or two companies disagree on internet roaming, the profit is considerably less compared to when all companies have reached an agreement on internet roaming. However, the profit gained on partial agreement is still better than companies without any agreement at all on internet roaming. Based on this result we know to reach common agreements on internet roaming would be a balanced ideal state. The national authorities regulate three WiMAX companies in north and south regions to establish regional business respectively. Nowadays companies, in this mobile network era with an aim to become a sustainable operation, are strategically expanding from the regional network to the all-area network. This trend coincides with the conclusion of this dissertation, which is reaching a common agreement on internet roaming would be a balanced ideal result. Since the authorities didn’t regulate on mergers, internet roaming or mutual investment so companies are at a loss as to what to do. Authorities should carefully consider on this issue and amend the law as soon as possible.
