Every educational institution is faced with this problem every year. The difficulty of course scheduling problems arises from many constraints such as resource capacity and time schedules for lecturers and students. Thus, it is very important to create computer procedures that can automatically solve course scheduling problems. Classroom assignment is a sub-problem in course scheduling problems. In this study, we assume that the time schedule for each course has been determined. An efficient algorithm is then developed to assign a classroom to each course satisfying constraints such as room capacity, time schedule, the type of the room, and the number of credits. Numerical computation is performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithm.
