Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 景觀與遊憩碩士學位學程 === 99 === After the 921 earthquake, the severe damaged Guang-Fu Junior High School in Wu-Fong was preserved with its post-disaster condition and designated as the “Earthquake Memorial Museum”. It was renamed the “921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan” later by the Ministry of Education. The site preserves Chelungpu Fault and utilizes multi-media technology to introduce earthquake science to the public. The museum is the major feature of the site. As to the function of commemoration and education provided by the site, it will be perceived differently by tourists from different backgrounds. On the point that Environmental Education Law has been promoted actively by many countries, the study would like to explore from an environmental education perspective to see to what extend the tourists from different backgrounds could be inspired by the Museum, which was established for educational purpose. The study would also like to investigate tourists’ perceieved value and environmental attitudes towards the role of the Museum of recording, education and consoling from a viewpoint of New Museology. The overall effects of education and consoling provided by the Museum will also be examined.
The study investigates tourists’ perceieved value and environmental attitudes towards the earthquake hazard site preservation from an environmental education perspective with the case of the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan. By using the SPSS 17.0 as the data analysis tools, some descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, independent sample t-test, One Way Analysis of Variance, and regression analysis were applied to the data collected and to verify the research hypotheses.
Results of the study are as follows:
1. There were not significant differences in tourists’ perceieved value on the earthquake hazard site preservation among tourists with different gender, age, education, occupation and frequency of visits.
2. There were not significant differences in tourists’ environmental attitudes towards the earthquake hazard site preservation among tourists with different gender, age, education, occupation and frequency of visits.
3. There was a significantly positive relationship between tourists’ perceieved value and environmental attitudes towards the earthquake hazard site preservation for participants from different backgrounds.
The study results could be provided to the committee of the Museum and relevant government officials for site management and environmental education reference. It is expected to improve environmental perceptions of and attitudes from the public and to establish environmental ethics for the people.
