碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 風險管理與保險研究所 === 99 === This study examines the relationship between ownership structure and operating efficiency for firms in the Taiwanese non-life insurance industry . Data envelopment analysis ( DEA ) is employed to measure the operating efficiencies of 9 Taiwanese non-life insurance companies from the year 1996 to 2009 . Then efficiency measures are then used as dependent variables in the OLS regression model to examine the influence of ownership structure on operating efficiency. The evidence shows that all ownership structure variables are insignificant except management shareholding and corporation shareholding , our empirical results consistent with the ownership structure – operating efficiency irrelevant theory.
