Therefore, this study is to explore the impact of first-time house buyers’ characteristics in their decision-making process, helping real estate-related industries to understand first-time house buyers’ needs and decision-making to prevent negative things from happening to meet economic benefits. In this study, from first-time house buyers’ point of view, we discuss the characteristics of first-time house buyers and their decision-making impacts. All researches were taken in Taichung City, Taiwan, before the merger of Taichung county and city. We use questionnaires and interviews, some of the data analysis using factor analysis, multiple regression analysis and binary logistic regression analysis to verify the hypothesis. Through empirical analysis, the results show for the first-time house buyers have the following four characteristics: experience factors, personality factors, time pressure factors, and the life convenience factor. First of all, experience factors have the impact on first-time house buyers in terms of the length of time before the final decision and the location which is close to where their parents live. Secondly, personality factors impact the reasons why consumers buy the house, numbers of the house they’ve seen and the adoption of a family-based decision. Besides, time pressure factors affect the amount of money on house-buying decision. At last, life convenience factors affect the length of time on decision-making, the age of the house, the amount of money of the house, and the location that is similar to their previous residence.
