We live in an exercise-friendly environment; however, it is not so friendly for physically challenged people. For example, uneven sidewalks, pathways blocked by motorcycles and cars, and there aren’t many well facilitated barrier-free buildings in the country. These problems make disabled people inconvenient in life, not to mention to exercise. The following research will exaggerate the above idea, while further discuss architectural designs for barrier-free athletic facilities, and pros and cons of current facilities. The study interviews with physically challenged athlete who has attended local and international athletic games. By giving interview and questionnaire to physically challenged athlete, the study shows and analyzes problems of local barrier-free athletic facilities, and some suggestions they provided. The study based its research on some other references and regulations. The research interviews with a physically challenged person who has attended the 2002 Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled and several times of international table tennis games for disabled. During each game, he learns about a variety of accessible facilities and experiences different barrier-free athletic environments. Though these facilities provide disabled a better environment, they are not hundred percent easy and safe. A questionnaire of table tennis games was taken to find out wheelchair athlete’s satisfactions for accessibility facilities and environment. Statistics of the questionnaire will show the results and practicability of accessible facilities. Finally, the study takes other researches as references, and discusses how barrier-free athletic facilities and environments can be improved. HUANG,CHUN-HSI 黃俊熹 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 177 zh-TW
