碩士 === 大葉大學 === 工學院碩士在職專班 === 99 === The current situation of the barrier-free environment for the three elementary public schools (Erlin, Seees, and Wfes) in Changhua County was explored in this study. First, by means of the field check, the availability of the facilities concerning with the barrier-free environment on the campuses was about 73%. The parking spaces, wheelchair capacity, and lifting equipment were needed to improve. Secondly, the teachers ’cognition and attitude about campus barrier-free environment was studied using questionnaire survey. It is shown that the teachers had a moderate to thorough understanding to this subject. The factors contributing the difference of cognition among the teachers are education background, duties to be served, and relevant training .The teachers ’attitude to cope with the problem was positive. In addition, there exists a positive correlation between cognition and attitude of the teachers surveyed. The schools ’executives (principals and chief of general affairs) and the disabled students (vision and limbs) were interviewed to solicit their opinions on this issue. The executives thought the education and funds were important to foster the barrier-free environment on the campuses. However the disabled students needed the lifting equipments.
