The second purpose of the study was to examine identity variables which were stronger predictor of emotional adjustment variables then were parenting style variables and mediated the relations between parenting style indicator and emotional adjustment in adolescence. There were five hundred and eighteen students from ten junior high schools and ten elementary schools. Materials were used including. (a)Parental Authority Questionnaire-PAQ. (b) Identity Questionnaire-IQ. (c)Emotional Adjustment Questionnaire-EAQ. The reliability and validity for the instruments of PAQ and IQ and EAQ was checked and was satisfactory. The research results were summarized as follows: 1.Parenting style and identity were associated. Parenting style and emotional adjustment were associated. Identity and emotional adjustment were associated. 2.Parenting style predicted Identity. 3.Parenting style predicted emotional adjustment. 4.Identity predicted emotional adjustment. 5.Identity as a mediator between parenting style and emotional adjustment.
