Summary: | 碩士 === 台灣首府大學 === 教育研究所 === 99 === The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and life adjustment in elementary school students. The subjects were 326 primary schools students drawn from Tainan County. The “Emotional Intelligence Scale” (EIS) and the“Life Adjustment Scale” (LAS) were administered. The main findings were as follows:
1. Most elementary school students had an average level of development in emotional intelligence.
2. Metropolitan students outperformed significantly rural students in some subscales of EIS. There were no significant differences in EIS scores between students of different grades and different gender and among students of different birth order.
3. Most elementary school students had well life adjustment.
4. Significantly metropolitan students outperformed rural students and girls outperformed boys in some subscales of LAS. There were no significant differences in LAS scores between students of different grades and among students of different birth order.
5. There was significant correlation between emotional intelligence and life adjustment in elementary school students. The eight EIS factors accounted for 40.154 % of total variance in the seven LAS factors.
