The lightweight aggregate are dried in the shade before drying by oven, and sintered. The sintering temperature is set at 800℃, 900℃ and 1000℃, mudstone powder is set to 25% and 35%,swell and flux are set to 3%, 9% and 15%, base mechanics features of light weight aggregate through tests of cylinder pressure, dry unit weight, water absorption and scanning electron microscopy, with discussion made on the impact of the contents of swell and flux, on the cylinder pressure, dry unit weight, water absorption, and physical properties. Experimental results have proven that: (1) if the mudstone powder is 25%, when the vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate at the fixed content of 3% and that of the fusing agent adds the amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the cylinder pressure falls between1.4Mpa~18.3Mpa,dry unit weight falls between 0.443g/cm3~1.234 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.121 %.(2) if the mudstone powder adds increase to 35%, when the vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate at the fixed content of 3% and that of the fusing agent adds the amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the cylinder pressure falls between 3.0Mpa~17.7Mpa,dry unit weight falls between 0.506g/cm3~1.197 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.118 %. (3) if the mudstone powder uses 25%, when the vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate adds the amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the fusing agent of iron oxide and baking soda adds at the fixed content of 3%, the cylinder pressure falls between 0.85Mpa~18.3Mpa,dry unit weight falls between 0.430g/cm3~ 1.144 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.102 %.(4)if the mudstone powder adds increase to 35%, when the vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate adds the amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the fusing agent of iron oxide and baking soda adds at the fixed content of 3%, the cylinder pressure falls between 3.0Mpa~17.7Mpa,dry unit weight falls between 0.416g/cm3~1.141 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.095%. (5)The fusing agent of iron oxide has used is clearly a higher cylinder pressure, the sodium carbonate has adopted is better foaming effect, cylinder pressure increases with sintering temperature reduction, increases with the swell and flux usage amount lower. vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate adds the amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the
fusing agent of iron oxide and baking soda adds at the fixed content of 3%, the cylinder
pressure falls between 0.85Mpa~18.3Mpa,dry unit weight falls between 0.430g/cm3~
1.144 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.102 %.(4)if the mudstone powder
adds increase to 35%, when the vesicant adopts boric acid and sodium carbonate adds the
amount of 3%, 9% and 15%, the fusing agent of iron oxide and baking soda adds at the
fixed content of 3%, the cylinder pressure falls between 3.0Mpa~17.7Mpa,dry unit weight
falls between 0.416g/cm3~1.141 g/cm3, water absorption ranges between 0%~0.095%.
(5)The fusing agent of iron oxide has used is clearly a higher cylinder pressure, the sodium
carbonate has adopted is better foaming effect, cylinder pressure increases with sintering
temperature reduction, increases with the swell and flux usage amount lower. (6)In the 48
ratios, the fusing agent of baking soda has used is clearly a higher dry unit weight, water
absorption is lower.
