Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 營建管理學系碩士班 === 99 === Engineering consultant firms (EC firms) are knowledge- and experience-based firms. The knowledge accumalted from experience is the essential assets for participating future projects for EC firms. Therefore, most of EC firms attempt to develop knwoledge management systems (KMSs) to accumalte and store essential knwoledge. To evaluate the performance of developed KMSs, previous studies mainly adopted qualitative approaches to evaluate the benefits of KMSs. However, qualitative approaches cannot identify quantitative benefits from a KMS. For obtaining the real information what the benefits of a KMS provides, this study evaluated the benefits of the Proposal Preparation Assistant (PPA) system in a KMS from a case study EC firm. Based on a case study ofproviding service proposal draftsfor two real case, this study concluded that there are 24.8% costsavingsof man-hour benefitsin average for using the PPA system. Furthermore, this study also found that the PPA system provides definite qualitative benefits in the demensions of system quality, system satiasfaction and system impacts.
