The IR remote controller has already become an indispensable stuff in household appliances. At present, it is easily to see the Universal Remote Controller (URC) on the market. But URC can only control some several kinds of products. It is revealed that the URC is preprogrammed by fixed IR code, so it is not real universal. Neither can it control the new products, nor can it remote via Internet. And it is short-ranged wireless communication; it has bad interoperability between different types of remote controllers for different products. This system design utilizes TCP/IP protocol and Socket API to set up the connection through the wireless network. The following sends the control signal from Server to the Recordable URC of Client for realizing the Integrated Remote Control System via Internet. It not only can integrate all the remote controllers of different home appliances in commercial hotels, but also can decrease the cost of housekeeping. Furthermore, we can extend the application to room management and room service. In order to realize the low-cost integrated remote control system via Internet and apply to commercial hotels quickly, this thesis utilizes cheap and stable Ethernet/WLAN modules combining TCP/IP protocol and Socket API program via GUI to send control signal from Server to Client. After packet received, Client will drive the IR remote signal to household appliances for realizing the purpose of remote control through network.
