The subjects were senior class students in public elementary schools in Taichung. The stratified random sampling was used according to the size of schools. As for the research instrument, the self-prepared “questionnaires of personality traits, motivation of participating in after-school clubs and learning satisfactions of elementary school students in Taichung” were applied. After the questionnaires were collected, statistical approaches such as the reliability analysis, the factor analysis, the descriptive statistics, the one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and the stepwise multiple regression analysis were conducted for analyzing the data. Our findings suggest the following conclusions: Elementary school students in Taichung have strong motivation of participating in after-school clubs. Elementary school students in Taichung have high learning satisfactions. As for motivation of participating in after-school clubs, there were no significant differences found on the background variable sex. However, significant differences were found on the background variables club types and periods of participating clubs. As for learning satisfactions of after-school clubs, there were no significant differences found on the background variables sex and periods of participating clubs. However, significant differences were found on the background variable club types. Personality traits, motivation of participating in after-school clubs and learning satisfactions of elementary school students in Taichung showed significant correlations. Motivation of participating in after-school clubs of elementary school students in Taichung functioned as a predictor for learning satisfactions. Finally, we proposed some specific suggestions to institutions of educational administration for assisting students to raise motivation of participating in after-school clubs and further enhance learning satisfactions by applying coping strategies effectively.
