The recent notorious scandals, the fake milk powder in China and the toxic plasticizers (DEHP) event in Taiwan are examples that have caused tremendous impact to the society. Thus how to prevent and deal with crisis properly and even further turn crisis into an opportunity can not be over emphasized. In other words, risk and crisis management are essential to a business or an organization in these days. This study focuses on the crisis management subject and examines carefully the steps of prevention, handling and subsequent recovery. By means of analyzing the real cases of five local and foreign companies we have drawn a conclusion that a business should adopt the following three major principles in dealing with crisis management: 1. The top management’s attitude towards the human life; 2. The top management’s participation in handling crisis; 3. The top management’s timely control of the situation at its instance. Having grasped of the three major principles, a company is able to control the situation and minimize damaging impact from any crisis or sudden disaster. T. Richard Hsueh 薛迪忠 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 107
