As a result, structural alteration of hemagglutinin often occurs and causes host immune system fail to detect the virus when it invades host cells. An epitope is a short peptide or single amino acid residue that is associated with antibody recognition. The purpose of this research is to establish an integrated database system of the influenza virus epitopes. We gather the epitope sequences that have been verified by biological experiments upon some fairly limited HA sequences and mark them on hemagglutinin sequences of other thousands of HA sequences in influenza genome database which have yet been investigated by biological experiments. We also establish web interfaces to facilitate the data searching and mining. Biomedical researchers can benefit from using our database in their immune-related researches on influenza viruses. G. W.
