The result is that boards of directors’ independence and CEO ownership found the positively significant relation with the Causal-nexus oriented SPMS, but only CEO ownership have positively significant influence on Risk-control oriented SPMS. SPMS is also positive related to the performance. That is, CEO ownership can improve the firm’s performance by using SPMS. Besides, innovative firms prefer using the Risk-control oriented SPMS to the Causal-nexus oriented SPMS. Therefore, Risk-control oriented SPMS has mediate effect between innovation strategy and firm’s performance. This study also examine family firms and CEO control firms all have negatively significant influence on innovation strategy, showing that they are risk averter, not preferring innovation strategy activity.
