Such a destruction of environment has been beyond the critical point. Widespread destructions of the natural environment confront counter attacks one after another in Taiwan by typhoons, earthquakes, floods, mudflows and landslides. Whenever there is a typhoon or a torrential rain, landslides and flood devastation are inevitable to the point of tragedy. Once the occurrence of ecological disasters take place, the period for recovery redoubles, let alone rehabilitation. On a comprehensive survey of the traditional aboriginal customs and taboo specifications, there are many concepts of ecological preservation and sustainable maintenance behind all those superstitions. The Bunun tribe is the most representative of a family of aboriginal ethnics. As a writer of the Bunun tribe, Husluma.Vava, through his writings, recurs the elegance of the culture of the Bunun tribe from the aboriginal perspectives. The focus of his writings is on the traditional culture and life, the beauty of forest landscapes, and on how people get along with nature.Culture festivals, rituals, and taboos reveal the Bunun tribe’s respect and care for nature. Husluma.Vava through his writings highlights the preservation of nature and ecological wisdom implied in the culture of the Bunun tribe. This thesis studies the literature of ecology of the aboriginal ethnic groups, with his masterpiece The Soul of Mt. Jade as the scope of discussion. The author undertakes to discuss the Bunun tribe’s mythology, traditional rituals and traditional values and so on, surveying the Bunan’s perspectives of ecology and ecological wisdom in the book of The Soul of Mt. Jade. The last part of the thesis compares the discrepancies of the change of the perspectives of ecology in the past and the present. It also discusses if the perpectives of ecology of the aborigines are worthy of our taking them as a good lesson which offers advice on the preservation of ecology in Taiwan. 浦忠成 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 161 zh-TW
