In order to seek a savior for the invalid China, how to rectify the flawed national character and how to shape children to a “new citizen” became the priorities. In that time, children’s mind and body were reshaped and redefined by media, policy, education and commerce. The blurred image of China children was replaced by a new and well-defined one. In this thesis, the image transition of China children from 1895 to 1937 was investigated. I focused on how a new national character is implanted and how a physical body was trained by New Education.
