Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 化學工程與材料科學學系 === 98 === The effects of siloxane modifiers on the water content, mechanical properties, water retention capability, and thermal stability of poly-hydroxyethyl-methacrylate (HEMA) are studied using Instron mechanical tester, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), water evaporation measurement, gel permeation chromatography, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It is confirmed by FTIR and GPC that the required functional groups are successfully reacted onto siloxanes and which can be photo-polymerized by UV within limited time. It is obtained that the water content, thermal stability, and water evaporation rate of HEMA are affected by the type and equivalent weight of the siloxane modifiers. The siloxane modifiers with higher equivalent weights and end-modified chains have better performances in terms of the mentioned properties than those with smaller equivalent weights and side-modified chains.
