Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 98 === This research aims at understanding the leisure activity participation and constraints encountered by secondary school teachers. It mainly studies the correlation between the various positions held by the teachers within the school and their participation in leisure activities. The goal is to understand how different positions held by the teachers impact their participation in leisure activities. The future educational administration can use this research result as a reference to make changes to promote leisure activity participation of the teachers and to reduce the constraints they encounter when involved in leisure activities. This research used semi-structured interviews as a way of collecting information and data. Eleven participants were interviewed, included were 3 home teachers, 2 core-program instructors, 4 supervisors and 2 scholars. Findings are as follows: First, the constraints encountered by teachers when they try to participate in leisure activities vary depending on the positions they hold within the school. The participation of most teachers' leisure activities become more active during summer and winter vacations. Teachers with administrative responsibilities have more difficulties arranging lengthier vacations. Second, the constraints met by most teachers are the inability to arrange their vacation time to match that of their families', lack of structured vacation time and unresolved issues related to daily teaching responsibility. Three proposals can be made based on this research. The first one is to urge the education authorities to allow teachers to adjust their vacation time and provide adequate recreational opportunities to help teachers alleviate work related stress. The second is to encourage school authorities to utilize existing space within the school to plan recreational activities so that teachers can easily participate in them. This not only helps teachers relieve work related stress but also enhance their teaching ability. The third is to advise each individual teacher to participate in various leisure activities to expand their experience and skill and to maintain a well-balanced life style.
