Base on the energy conservation law, the fast numerical analysis program—Knitro is used to compute the bended shape of the turf when a force is applied in the brush. Meanwhile, the ring-shapes of turf are deformed according to the bending of the brush’s skeleton. The tilt angle of the brush is computed based on the brush’s moving direction and the fracture formed between the turf and the writing paper. Since we adopt an off-the-shelf digital pen made of a hard and solid tip to simulate a soft hairy brush, the force-feed back is quite different with a using of a real hairy bush. The force-feed back needs an intelligent adjustment. After the adjustment, a better feeling of feed-back is expectable and a better creation of brush stroke could be anticipated. In order to let a user more conveniently to use this digital brush to practice Chinese calligraphy, we design a friendly user interface which includes the setting function of the brush size, the selection function of various templates of calligraphy, the undo function of the last brush stroke, the clear function of the template background, and the zooming function.
