| Summary: | 碩士 === 雲林科技大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 98 === In classes of language learning, it is difficult for an instructor to take care of each student''s learning needs. This study has designed a computer-assisted learning system to satisfy such needs. The system provides exercises in alignment of Chinese and English chunks and ordering of English chunks to produce correct translations of Chinese sentences. After a student submits her translation, the system will provide feedback information, including a score, what is wrong with the answer, and relevant grammar rules of how to correct the mistakes in the answer. The student then corrects her answer and resubmits again. By repeating this cycle of correction and submission, the student becomes an active learner. Moreover, the system records the actions of each student during their learning activities. An experiment was run with an aligned corpus of articles of New York Times and their Chinese translation. Experimental results indicated that the students, happy with the assistance of the system, found the learning experiences meaningful, while the instructor could discover the problems and progress of the students.
