Abstract
This research investigates the effect of applying the bodily experience of Traditional Chinese Drama performers to the teaching of Traditional Chinese Dance. Through the investigation, this research also contextualizes the teaching phenomena with reference to the interaction between traditional viewpoints towards the performing body and the aesthetic consideration of the presenting style of bodily image.
This research is an action research. The participants who are taught, interviewed and observed by the researcher include 13 third-grade students of a dance department of a university. The process of the research involves the re-consideration of the curriculum, teaching, observing, recording with multimedia tools, the analysis of the journal of researcher and the study sheet of participants, the examination of the professionals, and the verification of the trustworthiness and validity.
After nine weeks, the findings of this research suggest that the application of the bodily experience of Traditional Chinese Drama performers to the teaching of Traditional Chinese Dance may
1.lead the participants to analyze the quality of dance movement,
2.lead the participants to understand the implications of movement
and the presentation of emotions,
3.lead the participants to associate personal experiences to the
emotion presenting and movement performing,
4.consolidate the bodily skill as the foundation of performing
Traditional Chinese Dance,
5.help the participants develop new movement vocabularies.
