However, the delamination and deterioration of the commercial products are still in doubt. There has thus far been relatively little research into the area. Therfore, the aim of this study is to explore the history of materials, the possibility of delamionation and the deterioration of the lamination pouches. The mehod to carry out this study was using a dialectics, which was to inductive composition and aging of the materials, and an experiment, which included the artiicicialy accelerated aging test and the physical analysis such as color changes, density, and volume increase of the plastic materials. Before the 1990s, several laminting films had been conducted in the conservation of paper-based documents mainly in the U.S. and the Europe; however, the treatment was gradually eliminated with time. The current lamination pouches are a composite of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) as the adhesive-coated films. The atmospheric environment, including the light, heat and moisture, causes the two plastic materials degraded and results into embrittlement and yellowing of the lamination. While a porous paper or a glossy photograoh adhered to the lamination pouch, to freeze the lamination pouch might remove the PET film from the EVA as well as the exception of adhesive residues on the surface of paper or photograph. It was because that the EVA-based adhesive can not be dissolved at room temperature in: tetrahydrofuran, Di-isobutyl ketone, toluene, xylenes, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and methyl cyclohexane. The results of the artificial accelerated aging indicated that the yellowing of laminatin pouch promot the discoloration of lamination objects, whethera cotton cellulose paper or photographic paper inside. After the aging test, no obvious change in the melting temperature of crystalline was observed; the volume increase of lamination pouch was conducted using solvent immersion and indicated that the interaction between molecular had became different. In summary, the commercial lamination pouch is not apporiate in the use of archive preservation and long-term storage for its irrevisibility and unreliable charactristics of weather-resistance.
