Yet along with the fast changes of the entire society, and due to the intervention and control of alien regime, the aborigines are forced to learn the mainstream language and culture. And in the face of persecution of self-culture and contempt, the aborigines have lost confidence for their traditional culture. Besides, each of the tribes is confronted the fact of fast loss of tribal culture, collapse of tribal community and belief, and the loss of language and crisis of cultural heritage, with no exception to Paiwan tribe. In fact, the functions of traditional musical culture for Paiwan tribe have, as well, collapsed with the changes of life style and economic activity, resulting in serous gap for musical culture. With the gradual increase of national consciousness as well as the importance-placing of government authorities on diversified cultural policy, traditional musical culture among tribes have, in steps, being demonstrated with diverse façades as they have spotted their brand new stage to continue their life-span in transformation of its original functions and demonstration space. In addition, we can also observe how the clansmen have, through the caring of the old and children, work to retain and preserve musical culture. Also, we have further witnessed that clansmen have made use of such cultural feature to develop tourism. Most of all, we have seen that the possibility for the development of musical culture has, under the active auspice and cooperation of school education and social groups, been duly conducted, while government authorities have aggressively worked to promote the learning of tribal language, helping to consolidate the foundation of culture along with the preservation of digital audio-visual records. This article has illustrated with Tai-wu Township, and focused on the musical environment and the heritage and identity of its musical culture within the tribe for in-depth discussions. Through the current status of heritage with analysis and arrangement of present Paiwan tribal musical culture, it will conduct comprehensive investigation and record for traditional activity of the tribe, heritage program within educational system, and the policy and attitude among levels of governments for promotion of Paiwan’ musical culture. On one hand, it will elaborate the preservation and changes regarding functions of traditional music for Paiwan tribe, and the fluctuation of interaction model between “performer” and “appreciator” for music exhibition. Furthermore, the author has clarified the interaction impact among the three parties as levels of governments, educational system, and tribal community, and so as the intertwining and complex relationship among themselves. As such, it has discovered the identity and dilemma for the heritage of Paiwan musical culture at present time, or what would be the mode worthy to be retained or facilitated. Of fresh reflection on what has been done and put forth novel suggestions for the future, it is to offer brand new aspect and perspective for future development of musical culture of Paiwan tribe. 蔡宗德 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 142 zh-TW
