Mainly focuses on urban areas, considering the relationship between the industrial heritage and urban development from the past, present and future. The industrial landscape infiltrates our urban environment more than we realize. First of all, the research starts from observing the development of the cities, to comprehend the background of industrial heritage. Then, through summarizing some space theories, it helps understanding the influence of industrial heritage on the city image and regional regeneration. On the other hand, reviews the trend of the development of cultural heritage conservation, and the relevant literatures and cases of museology, for understanding the changes of contemporary interpretation and conservation of cultural heritage. At present, the industrial heritage in Taiwan is facing some situations: 1.the dispute of ownership; 2.the phenomenon of shell preservation; 3. influence by cultural creative industry; 4. the relevant decree incomplete. For industrial heritage conservation, the integral museum declares the relationship between people and environment which is called “museality”, is useful for manage and master the essence of the industrial heritage. Refer to the concept of European route of Industrial heritage as the method, the plan settles “anchor point” and the “route” as a strategy to construct and describe meaningful industrial landscape. The study takes Taipei city as text, as well as the context of industrial heritage, tracing back the development of civilization and evolution of the social structure. And try to thread the important industrial heritage through the network, as the framework for the conservation of industrial heritage and construction of the urban landscape. Beyond the “Taiwan Museum system” and “L-shape axis of cultural creative industry”, by construction the “monopoly business route” and “main line route” of industrial heritage as examples, it further interprets the content of the anchor points and the industrial heritage route, and constructs the valuable urban landscape. In the process of discover and conceive the idea of the “Taipei Route of Industrial Heritage”, it has the following results: 1. the relation between urban modernization and industrialization seems quite close. 2. The location of industrial plants established is closely related to the direction of urban expansion. 3. Conservation of the industrial heritage is one of the important ways to understanding the urban history and development. 4. The industrial heritage route benefits to preserve the context of industrial landscape. 5. Conservation of the industrial heritage can shape the city image and become the catalyst for city regeneration. In the future, the concept should become the practical strategy of conservation of the industrial heritage for other cities and regions. Moreover according to difference industries and historical background, the network threads the important industrial heritage sites together, would become the important framework which contributes to a more comprehensive understanding and interpretation of the history and society of Taiwan.
