Keywords: the Self, Self-Integration,Life, Acrylic Painting
This art creative thesis presents my thoughts and the process of creating though Carl Gustav Jung’s personality archetypes, Henri Bergson’s life philosophy, Zhuangzi’s esthetics, and proof and reflection on the history of art. By transforming inner comprehension into visual display, I regard creation as review of life. Though creation, I can clarify my life value and show my life experience. It also helps me find the balance on life style. The material of creation is based on acrylic mainly. I apply the technique of printmaking template to the creation, and also repeat patterns to expand the space. I see the canvas as puzzles. Therefore, the works could be full of vitality and exuberant.
There are four series in this paper, which all are based on exploring the meaning and value of life:
Series I: “The Series of Life Consciousness” I use the plants as the symbols for creation. I try to interpret the reproduction of life.
Series II: “The Series of Inner Thoughts” Peeking the hidden power within my body, the series advances the understanding of the Self.
Series III: “The Series of Transformation” I attempt to search for the balance from the stressful environment and conflicts.
Series IV: “The Series of Self-fulfillment” Based on the organic images to express the vitality, the series transmits a situation of balance and satisfaction.
The essence of creating is looking for the meaning of life and producing unrestrained and broad value. Based on my observation, introspection, concern, and creation, my artworks transform into sublimation and recurrence of self-energy. Life may not be controlled as I wish, but I feel I realize the essence of life and beauty of individual existence with positive attitude and ongoing creation.
