Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 數學資訊教育學系碩士班 === 98 === The purpose of this study is to explore the graph comprehension towards statistical graphs performed by the 3rd and 4th grades students. In the research, the graph contexts, used in TIMSS2007 Mathematics Framework, including three types of questions - knowing, applying, and reasoning and three types of statistical graphs - bar graph, line graph, and pie graph, were adopted to design a questionnaire. The significant findings of the research will provide substantive guidelines for mathematical education authorities in the policy improvement. The results of dependent samples ANOVA illustrate that there is no significant difference among three types of statistical graphs; and illustrate that, in three types of contexts, the students of the 4th or the 3rd grade students performed better in reading than in applying, and than in reasoning. Also, the results of Independent samples t-test illustrate that, no matter in each context or in each statistical graph, the performance of the 4th grade were better than the 3rd grade. According the results of research, we suggest that: 1.the program of three types of graphs – bar, line, and pie can be arranged at the 3rd grade; 2. enhance the ability of the 4th grade students to reason the data questions in statistical graph.
