The researcher also described the students' presentations of the scientific epistemological views and thoughts toward the activity of reading science context in the newspaper. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed. The questionnaire of scientific epistemological views includes four dimensions, that is, source, certainty, development and justification. The scale of attitudes toward science includes three dimensions, that is, attitudes toward science self, attitudes in attending scientific investigation activity and the attitudes toward scientist and scientific career. These two instruments were applied to the subjects before and after the activities of reading science context in the newspaper. Paired t-test was used to determine whether significant differences exist. Correlation coefficient between scientific epistemological views and the attitudes toward science was also calculated. For the qualitative data, students' documents, teachers' teaching diaries and interviews were analyzed. The quantitative result have shown both scientific epistemological views and the attitudes toward science is significant. However there is no significant correlation between these two aspects. In the aspect of scientific epistemological views, there are significant differences in the dimensions of source and justification, but not in certainty and development. In the aspect of the attitudes toward science, there is significant difference in the dimension of attitude toward science-self, but not in attitudes in attending scientific investigation activity and the attitudes toward scientist and scientific career. The qualitative results have shown that most of the students have positive attitudes toward reading science context in the newspaper. Through this reading activity, the students agreed that reading science news is interesting, and that more knowledge can be learned and it is useful in the daily life. 王美芬 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 119 zh-TW
