The motivations of young children’s participating in after school sports program are “happy moods”, “healthy body”, “interpersonal relationship” and “self-affirmation”. The factors of parents’ supports are “belief” and “support”. The methods of this study are interview and questionnaire. The subjects of this study are young children in kindergarten, preschool and nursery and their parents from one private school in south area of Taipei City. First, researcher interviewed young children individually to investigate their participating in after school sports program. Second, have young children choose flashcards related to their feelings after participating in after school sports program. The questionnaires are answered by young children’s parents to find out reasons of parents supports. The results are as following: 1. The most important motivation of young children participating in after school sports program is “self-affirmation”, the second one is “happy moods”, the third one is “healthy body”, and the last one is “interpersonal relationship”. In the factor of self-affirmation, kindergarten children have higher score than preschool children. In the factor of happy moods, boys have higher score than girls. In the factor of healthy body, children who practice sports voluntarily have higher score than children who practice sports involuntarily. As in the factor of interpersonal relationship, different types of sports affected children’s motivations in participating sports. 2. Parents supports in children participating after school sports program, “belief” is the major factor, then the “support” factor. In the aspect of belief, parents support girls participating in sports program has higher rate than boys; Supports from fathers are higher than mothers; Parents who exercise everyday are higher than non-exercise parents. In the aspect of support, parents support preschool children more than kindergarten children; Supports from fathers are more than mothers. 3. The correlations of children participating in after school sports program and parents supports, self-affirmation to parents belief has highest correlation, interpersonal relationship to parents supports has lowest correlation.
