Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 中國語文學系碩士班 === 98 === The maturity of computers and Internet technology lays a solid foundation for the popularity of online novels. From heavy to light, and from BBS to WWW, various media and technologies cause slight difference to the interaction between online novels and their readers. More than ten years have passed since the first substantial online novel was published in Taiwan in 1998. During this period, a number of writers win their fame by writing online novels. Their works often become a hit and are supported by many readers, bringing a fad of mimicking their writing topics. The study is aimed at analyzing the best-selling works of seven writers so as to conclude the change of topics and writing features of Taiwan online novels within this decade. The study is hoping to further discuss how these texts relate to contemporary social phenomena such as the description of social events, thoughts concerning religions, and the dimensions of gender relationship. After novels are blogged on the Internet, controversial remarks never stop appearing. If compared to the serious contents of pure literature, online novels are indeed too light and too casual. Nevertheless, the most fantastic part of online novels is not the contents, but a free environment for amateurs to create their own works. The line between readers and writers is blurred and reading is re-defined. The coming of ‘reader as writer’ era marks that the autonomy of readers is enhanced in terms of reading. They have the power to determine if certain literary works shall be published. Through sharing reading online, exchanging remarks and mimicking writing topics, readers start to shape their personal values in the community of online novels in pursuit of the recognition of being seen. While encouraging authors with their words, readers may just turn themselves into another creator at the same time.
