The purpose of this study is to answer two questions which involved in classics and literature, the first one is how deep Shijing spreading and permeating in the poems during early Tang Dynasty; the second is what the real relationship between Shijing and the poems is in this period. Therefore, the theme of this study contains content of classics and literature. In classics, there are two main issues about Shijing, how Shijing permeates and making influence in the poems, and how it explained and applied in the poems. There are three in literature, how Shijing to be receptive and inherited in the poems, how they applied contents of it, and how the poets reflected and using the content of Shijing in their works. The three questions what this study trying to answer are, how Shijing permeated and made influence in the poems, the universality of accepting and inheriting from Shijing in the poems, and the frequency of application and development of it in the works. The whole content of the study contains six chapters as follow: Chapter 1 Preface-Describing the motivation, purpose, and methodology of this study. Chapter 2 The relationship between Tang Poems and Shijing in historical trace-Discussing the issues about relationship between literature and Five Classics, poems and Shijing since Han Dynasty. Chapter 3 The phases of Tang Poems and background of this study-Expounding the background and information what is closely related to this topic for the readers to understand the context of this study easily. Chapter 4 The examples of quotations of Shijing in earlier phase of early Tang Dynasty-Analysing and generalizing the works of five poets in this period. Chapter 5 The examples of quotations of Shijing in later phase of early Tang Dynasty-Analysing and generalizing the works of thirteen poets in this period. Chapter 6 Conclusion-Summarizing the former chapters, explaining the extent that Shinjing spread in poems, the performance of poets whose works accepting Shijing, then proving that Shijing was influential to the poems in early Tang Dynasty. Ensuring the relationship between Shijing and the Tang Poems, Shijing was one of the sources of the poems.
