Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北醫學大學 === 保健營養學研究所 === 98 === There are general two kinds of neurodegenerative diseases among the elderly, one is Alzheimer’s disease and the other is Parkinson disease. Neurodegenerative diseases are closely highly associated with oxidative stress. Anthocyanins are polyphenolic compounds possessed antioxidative ability. In recent studies, it has been found that anthocyanins are anticancer, anti-inflammation and anti-proliferation on tumor cell effects. Oriental plum is rich in polyphenolics and anthocyanins. In this study, we investigated whether H2O2-induced PC-12 neuron cell can be attenuated by 25~200 μM plum extract. Our results showed that plum anthocyanins decreased H2O2-induced neuron death and apoptosis, accumulation of intracellular ROS, caspase-3 and the loss of mitochondria membrane potential. In conclusion: Plum anthocyanins can decrease H2O2-induced PC-12 neuron cell apoptosis, restore the dysfunction of mitochondria membrane potential by blocking the accumulation of intracellular ROS, which may be useful in protecting neuron degenerative diseases.
