Its bonding capacity was determined, and the effect of strengthening at room temperature is indeed significant. However, it won’t last in high temperature. Previous studies have used geopolymer to replace epoxy as the bond material for FRP jacket strengthening, the advantage of heat resistance was revealed. Further studies using a kind of porous “geopolymer foam” as the fire resistant coating to cover the concrete cylinders jacket strengthened by FRP using geopolymer, the effect of fire-resistant insulation was considerably shown. The present study used again the light weight “geopolymer foam” as the fire resistant coating to cover the concrete cylinders jacket strengthened by FRP , but this time using epoxy as the bond material. The major parameter was the thickness of coating. To further reduce the weight of coating, fire resistant cotton was added into the geopolymer foam. The results revealed that both types of coating showed quite well performance in heat resistance. As for the effect of heat insulation, the geopolymer foam stands a temperature difference of 200 ℃, while the geopolymer foam plus fire resistant cotton is around 150 ℃.
